Know The Secret To Be An Efficient Leader




Skilled leadership is not a rocket science, but the science of handling adverse, awkward situations with grace, style and achieving the desired results.

Leadership is based on interactions and key to these is anticipating the other person’s point of view, and the important fact is that you don’t have to judge and analyze his reaction instead your reaction to the situation needs to be evaluated.

There are times when a leader needs to get directly to the core of the issue but if the questions elicits little or vague information, then the best course of action is to probe the questions further and presume there are problems as if you want an unvarnished truth you have to ask for it .

No one likes to be told he is wrong, but if the criticism is framed rightly and is constructive it can impact the situation, but at times criticism tends to sabotage the work process, hence a healthy and a skilled communication needs to be used in this tricky situation.

It is crucial to criticise without demeaning or being humiliating, hence true leaders must cultivate virtues like be nice but not brilliant, keep your opening lines simple and introspect your thought process prior to speaking out, and end the discussion on a cordial note, keeping a space for future interactions.

Accept compliments with a smile and apologise if you are wrong with a smile and this will take your interactions on a different and a smooth level.

Do not hesitate to dole out praise to your team as kind words can be great motivators and at the same time be persuasive if the situation demands.

Boost, motivate and make the atmosphere conductive for work. This is the sign of a true leader.
