Ethics for writing email

Today, e-mail has become the powerful means for business communication. E-mailing has replaced postal letter and telegraphs almost totally. But while writing an official mail, you should follow some ethics or morals.

The first thing to remember is to be clear and concise in your matter. Most of the business professionals receive hundreds of mails daily and they get exhausted reading all the mails, and if your mail is unnecessary long and too much descriptive, the receiver will just ignore it. So you must be very concise and clear in your matter in such a way that the message is conveyed to them but very concisely.

Email communication has become so quick with today’s superfast network speeds that once you click send mail it appears on the inbox of the recipient within very, very few seconds. So, be sure you have typed the mail correctly and you really wanted to send it because once sent you cannot repent “oh no, I forgot this, I should not have sent it right now”.

Use attractive subject lines. Professionals check those mails on priority basis which the subject line is attractive and thoughtful. It is the subject line which catches the receiver’s eyes and makes them open and read your entire mail. Though you cannot write a full mail as subject, do write a meaningful line which describes the purpose of the mail and make it a bit eye-catcher also. This will definitely make the receiver read your mail.

These are some basic ethics to keep in mind.

Various forms of communication form the basis of business ethics and a good entrepreneur or professional needs to inculcate these vital communication methods in order to excel.
