Advertising on television channels
Television is today the best medium to approach the masses. Any type of message to be brought into public’s attention is possible via television today. Gone are the days when the television had only 1 or two local channels and programs were telecast for a limited number of hours. All the advanced countries now have television on almost 24×7. Thus television is now becoming the media to reach the public even for advertisement purposes. Cable or private operators offer hundreds of various channels, movie channel, channel for serials, sports channel, music channel, news channels and many more.
Each person has a choice of program to watch. One can advertise their product either as a short commercial in breaks or can flash it across the screen while people watching their favorite show. Today with the computer aided graphics, advertisements can be made eye catcher to the viewers. Putting a cartoon image or some fun items as the symbol advertisements can be made very attractive. Advertisement which is attractive and also entertaining catches the viewer’s attention more quickly than a simple one. Normally when there is a break in the running show, people either switch channels or complete their household or other work, so advertisements shown during breaks do not catch much attention but if an advertisement is flashed at the bottom or sides of the screen while a program is on, becomes an eye catcher. Other form of advertisement is to sponsor programs. Sponsor names are announced quite often during the running program. This is another advertising strategy which works well for everyone. Television has far reaching effects and presently even houses in small villages have a television set.
